Hawke’s Bay Hounds.

By “ Fox Hound.” The Hawke’s Bay hounds met at Mr Robert Tod’s place “ Brae Leau,” Kaikora, on Saturday, where a very large number of followers arrived at the appointed hour, and after being hospitably entertained at lunfeheon by Mr and Mrt Tod a start was made with a drag, which was laid over some six miles of excellent hunting country, including many jumpi in the shape of log fences, post and rail, brush and waterjumps, nearly all the horses taking the fences in capital style. Two or three mishaps occurred but lam glad to say with no serious con6equenoei After the drag hunt a move was made towards the hill, when in number four paddock the hounds soon gave tongw and the hare took a lino through the rape paddock and across the Patangatt road and to the Homewood station, where it was unfortunately lost, having gives us a splendid run of about three milei, over some splendid hunting country, including several formidable wire fenoei Amongst the followers were 1M dames G. Mown G. L. Sunderland (master) on The Gift, H. H. Jackson (huntsman) on Mawhiti, Jack Mason (whip) on Dick Turpin, J. & Rhodes on Sultan, A. Herrick on For* top, R. H. Tod on Wildfire, R. J. Harding on Harkaway, Godfray Groome od The Infant, Sandtmann on Donald Dinnie, T. H. Lowry on Contingent, J McNeven on Domino, T. Butler on Game, R. Lowrie on Wanst-ead, L. Norris on Heplesss, Rathbone on Reynard, W Pettit on Full Cry, A. Collins on Snof Storm, Harold Russell on Pisoador, Lowry North on Te Araia, Alexander on Hilda 11, L. W. Cottle on Puketoi, M Nelson, on Satenella, Connop on Chance, Poderan on Lobellia, W. Williamson Empress, Harley on Billy, L. W. Me Greevy on Chesnut, Hamilton Russell on The Lancer, T. Howard on Good Shot, Sydney White on Carbine, C. Arrow on Carnival, W. Arrow on Medicine, Taraneka (Moari) The Wonder, and fully a dozen more whose name» I cannot remember. Amongst the onlookers I noticed Mesdames Campbell, Tod, H. Jackson, R. Harding, J. Tod, Gilbertson, W. Hardie, Clark, HardieMisses White, Tod, Clark, Howard, Abbot (Wanganui), Buchanan, Burdett, Gollan, Arrow, Limbriok, and about thirty more spectators. After the run all returned to the house, where afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostetfi which was greatly appreciated.
