Maungatautari Races.

The Maungatautari Racing Club held their fifth annual meeting on Mr W. Vosper's farm at Dingley Dell, Pukekura, yesterday, and it passed off very sucessfully. The following are the results: — Hack Hurdles.—Hinuera 1, Cowboy 2. Settlers' Plate. Minimum weight list. Fox 1, Spider 2. Ten started. Pace Race.—Sweep 1, Doctor 2. Six started. Handicap Trot---Alba Rose 1, Jim 2 Ladies' Bracelet.— Tamaiti 1, Doctor 2. Six started. Won easily. Maunagtautari Cup.—Mistake 1, Maketu 2. Tamaiti 3. Seven started. Pukekura Steeplechase.—Comet 1, Rocket 2. Four started. Won easily. Cigar and Umbrella Race.— T. Shaw 1, F. Hooker 2. Five started. Pony Race.—Maketu 1, Joe 2. Ten started. Won by a length. Handicap Trot.—Alba Rose 1, Jim 2, Sweep 3. Nine started. A close finish. President's Handicap.—Mistake 1, Cake Walk 2, Fencourt 3. Five started. This was the best race of the day, the finish being a close one betewen the placed horses. A protest was lodged against the winner, but it was not sustained. Bending Competition.—A. Allen 1, F. Hooker 2. Six competed. Maori Hack Race. —Taniati 1, Joe 2. Six started. A protest lodged against the winner on the ground that trie horse's performances had not all been sent in, was upheld, and the race was awarded to Joe. Consolation Hack Race.—Cake Walk 1, Fencourt 2. Won by about half a nose. Five started. The last event finished about 5.30 p.m. Joe Bowler was the most successful jockey, winning four races.
