Rangiaohia Road Board.

The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. There were present: Messrs T. Bond, chairman, Geo. McKinder, R. Kay, D. Cavanagh, and W. Long. -Churches' Road.— Mr Cavanagh reported that the work on this road was not carried out owing to the contractors receiving instructions to place the metal in another district. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the supervisor no explanation was forthcoming. The chairman spoke of the unsatisfactory delivery of metal of late. —Ngaroto Road. —

The supervisor wrote saying that the metal for this road had been put on where most necessary. As regards the board's boundary line Mr Cavanagh was correct in stating in a letter that it stopped near Mr R. Burke's gate, and thence continued for a distance along the centre of the road towards the station, now metalled. The Waipa County Council would therefore be called upon to pay a share. —Moisley's Bridge. — The supervisor reported that the necessary arrangements had been made for the carrying out of this work. —Horse hire. — Some discussion took place with reference to the charge of 5s per day for horse hire when the surfaceman was obliged to have a horse for small jobs. The charge was considered too high. The chairman stated that when the work was being done near his place and the surfaceman was unable to get a horse he sent his own team and man to assist the surfaceman. He thought others should do lkiewise when they were getting some benefit near to home. —New Roads. — Messrs Jos. Nathan and Co.. of Wellington, wrote agreeing to transfer a piece of land near the Round Bush ilax swamp as pointed out by Mr Kay, free of compensation provided the Board pay all incidental costs of survey, etc. It was decided to allow the matter to stand over and ascertain the probable cost of the survey, etc. Mr W. G. Park wrote with reference to the exchange of roads near King's property at Paikuku.—Lef t for Mr Mandeno's report. —Accounts. The following accounts were passed for payment: Melville and Co., £35 lis; "\V. Lovett, £45 12s; I. Coates, £2 10s; Souter and Co., £1 4s 8d; Sawmillers' Association, £26 18s 2d.
