HAWTREY COMEDY COMPANY.
Rarely does an opportunity occur to local residents of seeing suoh a company as that which opens » short season of two nights on Thursday evening at the Volunteer Hall, Hamilton. The hawtrey Comedy t ompany, which has just concluded a successful season at His Majesty's Theatre, Auckland, has a name second to none in this part of the world, and is well-known as having introduced that unique play ' A Message From Mars' to Australasian audiences. A play of a different character, but ab most as successful for its drawing powers is 'Tom, Dick and Harry,' which is billed for Thursday night. This farcical comedy was product d at the Strand Theatre, London, and had an unusually lone run. It was at that time described as ' the play that made all London laugh,' since then it has admirably sustained its reputation tor its screamingly funny situations and liughable dialogue. The second piece to be staged on Friday will he Sir Francis Burnand's well' known farcical comedy 'The Lady of Ostend,* which has been played to record houses all over the country. Of this play the Melbourne Argus says:—'lf farcical comedy can amuse unrestrainedly, without bewildering, its mission is achieved very handsomely. This praise can be heartily accorded to the piece, and as the situations steadily increase in humour and the characters are boldly drawn, laughable types, the result is capital entertainment.'
In connection with the reserved seats it may be stated that chairs will be provided instead of the i sual benches. Mr Bentley Young, the company's representative, has been io town since Friday afternoon making the necessary arrangements. The company will be identical with that which has been so successfully playing in our leading cities. Seats muy be booked at Mr Paul's Book Arcade, Hamilton.
