FEDERAL RENENUE. Melbourne, July I. The revenue for the year from Customs and excise is returned at £9,618,000, exceeding the Treasurer's estimate by £526.000. Sir George Turner explains that the excess of duties came from grain, fodder, and sugar. From erainNew South Wales collected £290,000, Victoria £120.000. Queensland £70,000, and other States £IO,OOO. Tbe postal revenue amounted to £2,483,000, being £ 39,000 in excess of the estimate. The expenditure was £3,584,000, being £3OOO under the Treasurer's estimate, The total surplus returned to the States is £8,200.000. They thus get back £1,586,000 the three-quarters to which they were entitled.
