The Government propose to introduce a Bill to provide for advances being made to co operative companies formed fnr the pu'poße of canning fruit and exporting fruit in cool chambers. If Parliament approves an expert will be appointed to instruct the companies as to the best methods. Judgment was given for the defendant with costs in the case Sansbnry v. Teare. Plaintiff, a carpenter, claimed to be joint owner with defendant in a local property of some value and also a partner in defendant's practice. The case has occasioned considerable interest here owing to political matters having been dragged into it, the plaintiff alleging that he had secured Dr Teare, the defendant (his nephew) various public uppointments through his political influence. Nawer, Last Night. At a meeting of the provisional directors of the proposed new freezing com • pany id was announced that a sufficient number of shares had been applied for to enable the company ro be formed. It was, however, decided to endeavour to arrange terms with other companies to freeze for clients before proceeding with the project. Christohcrcu, Last Night. Mr Justice Denniston to-day allowed the appeal of a married man named Thomas Gamble, of Southbridge, from the decision of a magistrate thai he was the putative father of the child of his servant girl. Costs were allowed. The Education Board has resolved, with one dissentient, to apply to the Minister for Education to convert- the Christchmch West School into a District High School. Dunedin, Last Night. Dr. Gibb has accepted a call to St John's'Presbyterian Church, Wellington. The Dunedin Presbytery unanimously concurred.
