ASSAULT ON DR LAISHLEY.
(BY TELEGRAPH-PRESS ASSOCIATION) Auckland, This Day. A fortnight ago a man named Wm. Geo. Garrard caused a sensation in the Police Court by jumping upon Dr Laishley, solicitor, and throwing him ripon the floor. To-day, before the Stipendiary Magistrate Garrard was charged with threatening behaviiur on the occasion in question. Garrard pleaded guilty under great provocation, and asked if the solicitor had any right to call him a- d d old scoundrel in Court. The Magistrate asked accused if the Justices did not send him to gaol at once. Garrard replied, ‘No,’ tiny only said, ‘ When you two gentlemen have finished your discussion we will go on with the ease.
The Magistrate expressed regret _ that he was enable to deal with the affair as one of contempt of Cort, and at this stage lined the accused 40a and costs.
