BAZAAR AND PROMENADE CONCERT.
A gay and animated scene was presented at St. Peter’s schoolroom, Hamilton, last evening, the occasion being the bazaar and promenade concert in aid of the Hamilton Trinity Wesleyan Church. The building was beautifully decorated with evergreens, and the various stalls presented very attractive appearances, and were really eloquent testimony to the ski[l and taste of the ladies. The attendance of the public w'as very large all the evening, and the rapid manner in which the sales were negotiated was proof that the ladies, who had been working for some months past in the manufacture of useful and ornamental articles, had succeeded iu th-ir efforts to produce saleable goods, The Hamilton Brass Baud, under the baton of Mr J. Munro, discoursed some choice selections in front of the building, which were much appreciated. The various stalls were presided over as follows :—Sweetmeat stall, the Misses Meachem ; Japanese stall, Mrs Blamirea and Miss Davey ; fancy goods stall, Misses DiUicar, Bowles, and Crabtree; plain needlework stall, Mesdamts DiUicar and Jones, and Miss Thomas; artistic needlework stall, Mrs Horne and Miss Hay : refreshment stall, Mesdamea .Salmon and Maunder, and Miss A, Thomas. The art gallery was presided over by Mr Jones, assisted by Messrs W. DiUicar and H. Drower. Mr Botteley did a thriving business with a galvanic battery, as also did Master A. Maunder with a phonograph, and neat little bouquets were vended by several juveniles in Japaese costumes. An event which created a large amount of merri ment was a hat trimming competition for gentlemen only, and a nail driving contest for ladies only was also interesting.
