ROMAN CATHOLIC MISSION SERVICES AND CONFIRMATION .

The Rev. Father Benedict, of the Order of Preachers, has been bolding services in the Roman Catholic Church, Ohaupo, both morning and evening, for the last week and preparing candidates for confirmation, the services being all well a tended. On Sunday His Lordship Bishop Lenihan conferred the rite of confirmation on nineteen young people, five boys and fourteen girls. The latter were becomingly dressed in while, with wreaths and veils. After the confirmation His Lordship’s exhortation was impressive and instructive, not only to the children, hut to those present Th s Bishop warned the children against vulgar and naughty companions, which was the first step on the downward grade, and at all times to he obedient and respectful to their parents, and above all things to keep the Sabbath Day holy by attending the Church and other religious duties. The address was listened to with marked attention by the congregation. There was a good choir, which sang the hymns and chants appropriate to the occasion, Miss Hammond ably presiding at the organ, and Mr Pringle playing the violin. The service concluded with the benediction.
