THE ROYAL TOUR
SPEECH AT QUEBEC. Ottawa, September 17. The Duke of Cornwall, in a speech unon his landing at Quebec, made touching reference to President McKinley, the Royal visitor associating himself with the Canadian sympathy extended to a great friendly nation. The Duke of Cornwall added that there was a splendid tribute to the valour of Canadians at the battle of Paardeburg, where they took such a prominent part in the operations against Cronje. It is understood that the chief reason against the Cornwalls attending President McKinley’s funeral is the undesirableness of tempting the anarchists to make an attack.
