RATES OF POSTAGE. The postage on letters and letter cards within the colony, and for the United Kingdom, Canada, Cape Colony, India, and practically all other places in the British Empire, except Australia, is nowone penny for each half-ounce. The rate to foreign countries will remain at 2Jd, and to Australia 2d, until further notice. The parcel rate to the United Kingdom is : 31b, Is; 71b, 2s ; 111 b, 3a Attention is drawn tu the fact that rates of postage, except for letters and letter-cards, have not been reduced. Commercial papers, newspapers, etc., require the some postage as before. Mails close at the Hamilton Post-office on and after February 8, for the under mentioned places, as under: — Auckland and intermediate effices— Daily, 9.15 a.m. and 1 30 p.m. Auckland only—Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 12.35 p.m. Paeroa, Te Aroha, Waihou, Piako, Morrinsville, Matamata, Tirau, Okoroire, Putaruru, Waharoa, Tarukenga,Rotorua and Mamakn—Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 1,30 p.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays aud Saturdays, 10.55 a. in
