BOWLING.

The Cambridge Bowliug Tournament is now drawing to a close, and it will soon bo a thing of the past. It bus been ir.o.st successful, and it looks as it the prizes would bo fairly distributed. The final in the champion fours was as follows : H. JNixon, J. Rivers. H. Carr, 1'". O'Toole iskip) '-'4 v. \V. ITiugmuir, J. Ferguson, W.. Earl, W. F. Buckland (skip) '22. The game was a most exciting one. At the 7th head the game was: Buckland 7, O'Poole 10. At the 14th Buckland was IS ami O'Toole 14 ; and at the 20th head each shle was '22. O'Toole'a team then put in 2, and as neither of the skips placed their howls, the result was as .stated above. The playing of Messrs Nixon and Karl was exceptionally good. The final for the first year's players was won by Mr A. Deverell, who scored 19 to Mr R. Carr's 13. The latter did not scum at all up to bis usual form. The semi-final in the Handicap Pairs was played, the s-eoies being: W. Karl 3 and R J. Carroway (sc. skip) 34 v. J. Ferguson (4) uud W. Sturges (6, blud) 11). Other games played during the afternoon were Messrs Satilhrey, Heslop, Deverell and Riley (skip), 21 v. Messrs T. Wells. Young, Rivers and Clark (skip) 17. Messrs T. Wells and F. J. Brooks had a contest of 21 up, and the fact that it was a very close game is demonstrated by it, taking no less thin 24 heads to compile that number. Mr Weils succeeded in obtaining the 21, but iMr Brooks only reached ID. Afternoon tea was kindly provided for the bowlers and tennis players by the Misses Ferguson and Walker. In the evening a meeting of the Bowling Club was held in the Borough Chambers, when 22 were present. There was considerable discussion as to the position of the Club and the Domain Board, some contending it would be foolish to go on spending money on the greens when they did not know how the future Board would be constituted. After talking the mutter over for some time it was resolved not to do anything at the old green, but to tackle the new one and endeavour to put it in first-class order. It was also resolved to appoint a caretaker of the greens at a salary of £2O per annum ; and as this and the laying down the new green will run into a considerable sum, it was decided lo raise ilie subscription to .til Is per annum.
