KIHIKIHI.

Tennis.—On Thursday afternoon last the members of the Kihikihi Lawn Tennis Club and other friends met together at Orakau, at the invitation of the Orakau Club, on the occasion of their opening day.. The courts were in good order, and many pleasant games were indulged in by the members of the two club.--, of which there was a large muster. Refreshments, etc., were provided and everything possible was done to entertain the visiting club; aud a soc'alable and merry afternoon was the result. Catholic Concert.—The concert in aid of the Kihikihi Catholic Presbytery was held in the Town Hall'on Fiiday night. The attendance was very good and the audience more patient and orderly thin usual here of late. The programme was rather disappointing, owing to the absence of several of the promised performers; however, the efforts of Miss Florence Quinn and Miss Donovan (of Auckland) aud Messrs Martyn and Pringle (all of whom gave some good items) to swell out the programme, were much appreciated ; many of the items being encored and all were much applauded. Miss Quinn played the accompaniments in very good style aud Rev, Father Croke made an efficiout chairman. The usual dance took place after the concert, Rain.—A very beneficial and warm rain has been falling here most of to-day (Saturday.) Some settlers have commenced haymaking, to whom it will not be very welcome; otherwise, we were just beginning to want a good shower or two. Cnußcu Bazaar.—Nearly everything is in readiness for the coining event, the Anglican Church bazaar, on Thursday. Those engaged have been holding frequent rehearsals of the stage items, and i hese alone I am told will be « ell worth the entrance money. The slock of articles for sale is even more varied and numerous than was at first expected, and everything possible is being doue to provide fun aud amusement for aftero(on aud evening,—(Own Correspondent),
