Goneral Buller on Saturday attacked a precipitous ridge in horse shoe form, 1500 feet high. The Spitzkop road lay at the furthest point, while deep ravines prevented a turning movement. The enemy retreated over a narrow causeway and lost many, though a mist sheltered them. Shrapnel burst over a volunteer company of the Gordou Highlanders marching in column, seven miles from the enemy, lulling three and wouuding 11, but did not interfere with their steadiness. The total British casualties were Vo killed and 25 wounded.
