BULLER HOTLY ENGAGED ON SATURDAY. BOERS DRIVEN PROM A PRECIPITOUS RIDGE. THE ENEMY LOSE HEAVILY. BRITISH CASUALTIES SMALL. (Received September 12, 9.28 a.m). London, September 11. Goneral Buller on Saturday attacked a precipitous ridge in horse shoe form, 1500 feet high. The Spitzkop road lay at the furthest point, while deep ravines prevented a turning movement. The position was carried under fire of the artillery. The Devons operated ou the right, the Royal Irish on the centre, and the Royal Scots' on the left. The enemy retreated over a narrow causeway and lost many, though a mist sheltered them. Shrapnel burst over a volunteer company of the Gordou Highlanders marching in column, seven miles from the enemy, lulling three and wouuding 11, but did not interfere with their steadiness. The total British casualties were Vo killed and 25 wounded.
