RAGLAN.
On Wednesday the Anglican Chinch Soiree took place. Thme was a large attendance, visitors were present from Hamiltou, Pirongia, Whatawhaca and others places, and a considerable sum should accrue to the church funds. The ladies' of the congregation are to be congratulated upon the excellent manner in which they provided refreshment 1 ! fov their guests. The following ladies prrsided at the tables, Mrs La Trobe, and the Misses Hill, Savage, Sutton, Conradi and Harnxnt. The Hall was tastefully draped with flags. After the tables were cleared Mr T. 15. Hill took the chair and tendered a welcome to all. The following was the programe :—Piano duet, Mrs Mathias and Miss Hallett; toog, "Eirly Flowers" Miss K. Savage: recitation, " Farewell to New Zealand Volunteers " Master Percy Tapp, this rictat'on been as present juncture very opportune, and the adaptation of the last verse to Raglan's volunteer took immensely; eong, " Keep the Home Together" Miss Raid, encored and ''Robin Adair" given in response ; song. " When All Were Young'' Mrs Lanyridge ; recitation, " Coster's Lament " Mr Frank Rawle ; song, " Love's Request " Mrs Litchfield ; reading, "Learnt to Skate" Mr Henry, J.P. ; song, "Say An Revoir" Miss Reid, encored " Better Hide A Wee " given ; character Song, " Poor Old Joe" Mr E. 0. Wallls, the delineating of this charncter was very clever and received a very hearty encore, and the slight alteration of the song from "Poor Old Joe" to tho?e of " Poor Black Sam," brought down the house, the latter rcf rring to an old aud highly respected individual in our midst. Piano solo, Mrs E. 0. Wallis ; song, "Yea or No," Mrs Litchfield; song, " Sons of the Sea," Mr F. Rawle ; this song was enthusiastically encored. Piano solo, Mr Jonas. The following ladies presided at the piano, viz : Mesdames Mathias and Wallis, and the Misses Hallett and Savage. Thanks were given to the ladie3 and the many friends contributing the programme ; to Mr Sutton, J.P., for kindly lending the flags for decoration, and the Chairman. The superabundant supply of eatables was disposed after the concert. A very enjoyable ball followed, at which Mr Fred Moon acted as M.C.—(Own Corrcponpent).
