MILK, OH !

TO THE EDITOB. Sir,—Although I am not a supplier of ir-ilk to any factory or creamery, yet I feel that every farmer is either directly or indirectly benefited by the establishment of this industry, and should show a practical symparhy with you in the fight you recently had with a monopolist company- In that spirit I enclose my contribution to the fund now being raised to pay the heavy expenses incurred, and as there is no collector in this district, please forward it to the proper authorities us from " anti-monopoly." And now, Mr Editor, let me say that in my opinion, and despite your unceasing efforts to benefit the Waikato milk suppliers, continued week after week year after year, little or nothing have resulted had not Mr R. R. Hunt come along with the dollars ; if he is not die sole, he is certainly the chief factor in the increased price of milk, which will put thousands of pounds in the pockets of the supplier?, and what is his reward ? Not a rod cent; had he failed to carry out his proposition, nothing would have been due to him, but lie did not fail; the failure was on the part of the supplies. If these sapient individuals do not take in " the New Zealand Farmer, etc.," let them borrow (if they are too mean to buy) the present months issue, aud on page 381 to read what Co-opera-tive factories are givine for milk. Surely the Milk Suppliers Union can devise some means to acknowledge Mr Hunt's services. Of course, it will be understood that my somewhat sultry remarks do uot apply to Mr Fisher and the enlightened band who worked with him. These men deserve and should receive the thanks of the whole community. More power to them. Lastly, What is being done for the future? How long will Waikato farmers bo content to bo the "slaves of a ring"—l am, etc. Anti-Monopoly.
