Mr Sullivan, Minister for Public Works iu the new Government, states that one of the first measures introduced will be a Bill to thoroughly amend the navigation laws. Referring to the proposed naval reserve, he said now that the great nations were struggling for a foothold in Northern Polynesia, steps should be taken to make Australia a naval power in her own interests. (Received September 20, 9.10 a.m.) Sydney, September 20. Mr Lyne, at Germantown, outliu«d the Government policy. It includes a system of light railways to develop the country, liberal land laws, an Early Closing Bill, an Arbitration and Conciliation Amendment Bill making awards compulsory, Navigation, Shops and Factories Acts, Eight Hours and Mining Bills. He said he would probably raise the fiscal issue at the Federal election.
