WRECKAGE WASHED ASHORE.

(by telegraph—press association). Christchurch, Friday. Forthkr wreckage has been washed ashore on the Peninsula, supposed to have come from a large frozen meat steamer.

The New Zealand Shipping Company has asked the Premier to send the Government steamer to search the Shares, in case the overdue Waikato was wrecked there. The Hinemoa cannot make a search for three weeks yet, it is suggested that the company should send another steamer.

The wreckage on Banks Peninsula is of old date, probably from the Elginshire, now breaking up at Timaru.
