RACING CONFERENCE.
(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. The Conference adopted a new rule to the effect that no jockey shall bet on any horse in any race in which he ia eo gaged except his own mount, and then it must only be through and with the permission ot his employer. Mr Carroll addressed the Conference on the question of totalisator permits. He strongly urged the amalgamation of some of the country clnbs and limiting their racing to one day. He said that at some of the smaller meetings the stakes were so small that there was no incentive to the owner to run straight. By 24 to 11, it was agreed to give country clubs direct representation on the Metropolitan Committee. Captain Russell was among those who opposed, and Sir G. Clifford and the Chairman supported it on the condition that the internal administration of the metropolitan affairs should be properly protected. It was also decided to discourage the reception of nominations, etc., at public houses.
