The Government engineers, Messrs Holmes and Koch, are now in this district exploiing for a suitable route for the running of a railway Hue from somewhere about Te Kumi, near To Kuiti, to Waitara. This is the line which Sir George Grey always advocated. It would open up a splendid country for settlement, y, l»rge araa of which has been acquired by the Government and is now being surveyed
