HAMILTON LIBRARY COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the members of the Hamilton Library Committee was held at the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. There were present : Messrs W. Dey (Chairman), P. E. Stevens, T. Slade, G. Edgecumbe and R. J. Gwynne. The Secretary reported that the books, etc., had been removed from the old Library, and such as were suitable had been re-catalogued and placed in the new building, together with over one hundre 1 new volumes which had been procured from Messrs Wildman and Lyell. The building had been formally opened and already there had been a considerable addition to the list of subscribers. It was decided to place an order for a further supply of one hundred books, and the members agreed to make a canvass for new subscribers.

Mr Swarbrick wrote resigning as a member of the committee, and on the motion of Mr P. E. Stevens, seconded by Mr T. Slade, Mr A. E. Manning was appointed to fill the vacancy. It was decided that the present librarian be re-appointed under the amended hours at 12s 6d per week Mr T. Slade proposed that the Hamilton Comedy Company be written to askthem to produce another play in aid of the Library Funds.—Seconded by MrGeo. Edgecumbe and carried. Several small accounts were passed for payment.
