FOOTBALL.
The Hamilton Club had an excellent practice on Saturday last on SydDey Square, when about 30 players rolled up. The veteran Speight waa, as usual, to the fore, and imparted valuable inductions to the new blood, who, no doubt, will profit by his experience ; whilst the speedy Pike was conspicuous by his clever play. Mr H. JohDson had charge of the whistle, and a couple of good hours' practice was indulged in. The club should be able to place a strong fifteen in the field this season. We understand that a match will be played on Saturday next at Wlutawhata between the Hamilton 11. and Whata whata. The football season in Auckland opens on Saturday, May 13th. Present indications points to Grafton being very hard to beat in this year's championship. The annual meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union* called for Saturday last, has been postponed until the 6th May, at the same place and hour. The annual social in connection w ith the Te Awamutu Football Club will be held on Thursday next, when the caps wen by the club in last season's competition will be presented.
