CAMBRIDGE CHRYSANTHEMUM SOCIETY.
Some of the special prizes offered for competition at the show next Friday and Saturday are now on view in Mr T. Wells' shop window, and are commanding considerable attention. The competition for the handsome afternoon tea service, presented by Messrs P. Haymau and Co., is narrowed down by the unfortunate destruction of Mr Wells' blooms, but there will not be a walk over in the sectiou for which the prize is offered, and the veteran grower has sufficient blooms left to make a good display in the smaller sections. The orchestra is most fortunate in having secured such an excellent leader as Miss Whitelow, who stands second to none in Auckland for brilliancy of execution and the qualities which make a lending violinist. The band, besides receiving the valued assistance of prominent Hamilton musicians, will be further augmented by Mr J. Jackson, of Auckland, whose delightful oboe solos so charmed the audience at the last Cambridge orchestral concert.
