The New Zealand Accident Insurance Company has taken up the Devonport drainage loan of £17,500. At the iuquest on McCauley, who was killed by the falling of a tree, a verdict of accidental death, with no blame attachable to anybody was returned. At a meeting of employers an Industrial Association was formed.

The Government intend to throw another block of King Country land of 5000 acres open for settlement.
