HAMILTON PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A meeting of the members of the Hamilton Library Committee was held at the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday evening, Mr W. Dcy in the chair. The Secretary reported that all the furniture and fittings authorised at the last meeting had been placed in the building, and the accounts in connection therewith were passed. He further reported that a varied selection of books had been made, and these would be to hand in a day or so. Messrs Stevens and Swarbrick were appointed, to go through the present bocks to select the oues worth retaining and have them arranged at the new building, which it was decided should be opened in a few days. An application was received from the Hamilton Chess Club for the use of the reading-room on Wednesday evenings, when it will not be open as a readingroom, and it was decided to grant the application, the rent being fixed at 2s a week.
