MILK INDUSTRY.

TUKETE. A MEETING of settlers was held on Tuesday evening at Mr Allan's Te Rapa, for the purpose of considering the advisability of getting a creamery erected at Te Rapa. ('apt. Runciman attended, and laid before the meeting the proposals of Messrs Ambury and English, after which it was proposed, " That it is desirable to have a creamery erected at Te Rapa." This was carried unanimously. A guarantee of 250 cows was given by those present. It was resolved that Messrs Ambury and English be requested to erect a creamery at Te Rapa, on a site offered free by Mr J. Livingstone. (BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRGSPONDKN T) Te Awamdto, Last Night. A meeting of the Te Awamutu milk suppliers was held in the Library building to-day, for the puipose of considering Messrs Ambury, English and Co.'s proposals. There was a good attendance. Mr William Mandeno, Chairman of the Waipa County Council, presided, and fully stated the object of the meeting, and said that personally he was very much adverse to the present state of things. Mr Spragg appeared to be under the impression that he had the suppliers under his heel. If the farmers wished for improvement in the dairy industry it was for them to move in the matter. His notice had been drawn to Mr Spragg's interview with a Press representative, anil he considered his remarks most insulting to Mr John Fisher—a man of high standing in Waikato. Referring to the price mentioned by Mr Spragg, the Chairman read calculations received, showing that the Dairy Association only paid a trifle over 2-kl for the whole of last season to local suppliers. After a lengthy discussion, a resolution was put and carried in favour of Messrs Ambury and English, only two voting against it. A committee is now being formed for the purpose of canvassing the district in order to ascertain the number of shares each supplier is prepared to take up.
