PIRONGIA.

Waikato Mounted Rifles.—A parade of the Pirongia troop, Waikato Mounted Rifles No. 2, took place ou Monday afternoon, when two hours drill were gone through under the command of Capt. Aubin. At a meeting of the troop in the evening, held in the Library, it was carried that the troep attend the forthcoming encampment of volunteers, near Auckland.

Salvation Army. The Salvation Army Brigade from Hamilton, strength, eued by some of the Cambridge Corps, held a harvest festival service in our Public Hall on Sunday last. The hall was decorated by the representative of the Army here, Mr Prince, to whom great credit is due for the artistic manner it was done and the amount of labour bestowed upon it. On Monday evening again, after a meeting outside, the hall was again well fii!".d by an appreciative audience, Captain Lewis conducting moat energetically, assisted by Captain and Mrs McCullum. Our old friend, and at one time resident (Mi J. K. Pierce) was the principal attraction to many who wished to hear him now se is a soldier. " Joe " was always well liked here and respected, hence there was no interruption and the evening gathering passed off pleasantly in singing and exhortation. The fruits, etc., were all sold at fair prices. An excellent supper was provided with good tea and coffee, which were much appteciated. Our Maori friends were loud in their approbation for the good eutcrtainment provided for them, and indeed all were pleased.—(Own Correspondent).
