THE KNIFE.

(by telegraph—press association). Dunedin, Thursday. A stabbing affray occurred this evening in one of the back streets. So far as can be made out, a man, named Montogna was proceeding towards an hotel with a woman, when he was interfered with by four men. One of the latter, named G. Brooker, was stabbed with a knife on the right side, between the fourth and filth ribs, but how it occurred is not known so far. Montogna was arrested, but no weapon was found on him. Brooker was taken to the hospital. His iujury is not expected to prove serious.
