CHINESE AFFAIRS.
ITALIAN MARINES LANDED. [UNITED PRESS AS3OCIATION.] (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. COPYRIGHT). Hongkong, March 6. Italian marines have landed at Sayun Bay. The Tsung-li>Yainen's reply to Italy was contemptuous and minatory. France advised the rejection of the claim. A Renter message says the Italian Minister considers the Tsung-li-Yamen discourteous, and declines further direct communications with its members. Pekin, March 7. Britain, America and Germany decline to continue negotiations with the Shanghai officials relative to the extension of foreign settlements, and request the Viceroy to appoint a deputy to arrange the matter. The Times urges that the difficulty with Russia concerning the Niuchwang railway loan should be settled diplomatically at St. Petersbury. It says the Russian attitude in St. Petersburg aud London does not indi* cate Russian policy in the Far East. The loan was effected openly in ac - cordance with British treaty rights. (Received March 8, 11.30 a.m.). Pekin, March 7. The Chinese Government have asked the powers to withdraw the detachments of Marines, which were sent to guard the various foreign legations during the late anti-foreign rioting. France, Russia aud America have assented to the request.
