OBITUARY.

LORD HERSC HELL. [united press association.] (by eleotmc telegraph—copybight). Washington, March 2. Lord Herschell, who met with a serious accident by slipping on the ice at Washington recently, is dead. He was recoveiing from the effects of the accident when he died suddenly of heart failure, accompanied by symptoms of Angina pectoris. President McKinley has telegraphed to Mr Joseph Choate, the American Minister in London, expressing his condolences regarding Lord Herschell's death, when on the eve of the accomplishment of his mission. The Supreme Court rose as a mark of respeot. Ottawa, March 2. Canada mourns the loss of Lord Herschell. Sir Louis Davies, of the Dominion Cabinet, attends the funeral.
