FRISCO MAIL SERVICE.

(BY TKLEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Tuesday. The Oceanic Steamship Compauy are about to let a contract to Messrs Cramp, shipbuilders, of Philadelphia, for th« construction of two, probably three, 17knot steamers of 6000 tons for the American-New Zealand-Australian trade. The Mariposa and Alameda are to be reengined, and improved in other ways, and their speed increased one knot. Beginning with the voyage of the Mariposa from Auckland on March 20th, the San Francisco steamers will leave Auckland on Monday instead of Saturday. Our mails will thus gain the full benefit of the recent acceleration in the American train servic?, and the time from New Zealand to London will be shortened to 30 days.
