PATERANGI.
The HARVEST.—The harvest for this season is about finished, and farmers, I am sure, will be thankful that the labour and worry of the last six weeks is at an end. v ery few paddocks of grain escaped one or more showers, while some were nearly three weeks in the weather, and the produce will consequently be more or less damaged. The yield will not be up to expectations owing to the excess of moisture. There is in most cases too much straw, and the heads are not well filled.
School Matters.—The school opened on the 31st ult. with an attendance of 32 scholars. The committee, at a meeting held on Monday, decided not to let this school participate in the excursion to Auckland to-day (Thursday). It was also decided to have the annual picnic at the usual place on Friday, March 3rd. Friends ftom adjoining districts are cordially invited.
Lecture.—The Rev. Mr Gibson lectured on " Fiji and the Manners and Customs of the Natives, etc." on Friday, 10th inst., but owing to the people being so very busy with their grain there was a very small attendance and the contributions were very small.—(Own Correspondent). '
