A sensational duel took phco at Metz. Some German military officers jostled a civilian, namad Tillman, when the latter raised his stick, and afterwards boasted that he had thrashed the officers. The Court of Honour compelled the senior officer involved to fight a duel at 10 paces, and the officer shot Tillman through the heart.
