TE KUITI.

Concert. —A very successful concert was held last Thursday evening in aid of funds for purchasing a harmonium for church services. Mr Hotel's hall was very prettily decorated for the occasion, and a great deal of credit is due to the secretary (Mrs Melling) and the committee for the way in which all the arrangements were carried out. There was a very good attendance, and the object for which the concert was held should benefit very considerably. Leading features of the entertainment were the recitations of Mr Haybittle, who fairly kept the audience spellbound with a pathetic piece, entitled " Christmas Dinner in the Workhouse," and later on had everyone in roars of laughter over a clever imitation of a country concert After the concert was over the hall was cleared and a most enjoyable dance was kept up with spirit till the " wee sma' hours " An excellent supper was provided during the dance. Mr Paget (the chairman) gave a. short address at the conclusion of the programme, and moved a hearty vote of thanks to all those who had assisted in making the affair a success, and to Mr J. T. ITetet for the use of his.hall and piano, for which he had made no charge. School —The first examination of our native school look place tho other day, and resulted in a very good percentage of passes. Considering the short time the school has been started, Mr Harris, the teacher, is evidently tho right man in the right place, and an adept in teaching our young ideas how to shoot. Pakmako School.—The annual treat and distribution of prizes at Faemako was, I beliove, a great success, and tho school is, by all accouuts, getting along famously under the supervision of Miss Casey.—[Own Correspondent.]
