TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday evening last. Present ; Messrs J. L. Mandeno (chairman), Geo. Ahier, F. R. Gibßon, W. North and J. B. Teaedale. CccKT-uousti.—A letter was received from the Police Department, stating that temporary arrangements had been made with Mr Rickit with regard to police quarters, but they hoped at no distant date to be able to erect a police station on the Government reserve in the township. The erection of a new Courthouse was a matter for the Justice Department to deal with. Foottaths.— Mr J. H. Mandeno wrote, drawing the Board's attention to the bad state of Brady-street and the footpath from Dr. Pairman's to Mr Brown's.—Commissioners Teasdale and North were authorised to inspect and have the necessary work done. The same two gentlemen were deputed to inspect the Puniu road near Mr Gresham's and find out if repairs are required. Saleyards.—A good deal of discussion took place with regard to having more suitable saleyards erected for the district—lt was decided that the Board meet on the 29th inst. at the Town Hall corner and eudeavour to fix on the most suitable place for the yards. Por/ND.— The Clerk was directed to interview the poundkeeper and get some information with regard to several entries in the pound book. .. Payments.—An account of 12s due to T. Smith was passed for payment.
