A GORDON COLLEGE.
APPEAL BY LORD KITCHENER. [united tress association.] (by electric telegraph—copyright). London, November 30. Lord Kitchener has , appealed through the newspapers for £IOO,OOO to establish a Gordon College at Khartoum to perpetuate the memory of the late General Gordon. The Queen has consented to act as patron of the institution, and the Prince of of Wales as vice-patron. Lord Salisbury has written to Lord Kitchener approving of the scheme, and expressing his belief that it would prove an admirable civilising mission. He hoped wealthy Englishmen would support the proposal. The Baroness Burdett-Coutts has appealed to Englishwomen to aid Lord Kitchener, and has asked the colonies to contribute funds. December 1. The Gordon Memorial Fund has reached £40,000.
