WAIKATO AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
A committee meeting of the Waikato Amateur Athletic Club was held at the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East, on Thursing evening. There were present : Messrs P. E. Stevens, W. Day, jun., W. Hammond, J. E. Hammond, G. B. Beere, C. Speieht, J. McCrea, W. von Stunner, C. Blackburn and M. H. Quick. Committeeman.—Mr A. E. Manning was unanimously elected to the Committee, to fill the vacancy caused by the departure of Mr J. Low. 'Cyclists' Alliance.—Several communications were received upon the subject of the New Zealand 'Cyclists' Alliance.—The Secretary of the Alliance wrote suggesting its disbandment, and the division of the funds in hand among the affiliated clubs. This step he regretted to say was necessary, owing to the number of clubs which had lately gone over to the. New Zealand League of Wheelmen, making it impossible for the Alliance to provide enough racing for its members. He also asked the Waikato Club to appoint a delegate to support the motion for disbandment. —The Secretary of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club wrote asking for the support of the Waikato Club in an endeavour to have the headquarters of the Alliance removed to Auckland.—The Secretary (Mr Blackburn) explained the matter thoroughly and said if the Alliance waß disbanded the Amateur Clubs would be left without d. governing body.—After some discussion, it was unanimously decided to support the Auckland Club in the matter, and Mr Hassell was appointed delegate to act for the Waikato Club. Vote of Thanks. —A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Hamilton Comedy Club for the production of "Dandy Dick" in aid of the Square Improvement Fund, on the occasion of His Excellency the Governor's visit. — The Secretary reported that quite a handsome contribution had been netted over the performance. Dressing Room.—The secretary was instructed to apply to the Domain Board for the use of one of the dressingrooms in the pavilion for the season. Next Spohts Meeting.—The committee decided to hold tho annual sports meeting on Anniversary Day, which this time will be celebrated on Monday, January 30th. Finances. The Secretary reported that notwithstanding the heavy expense which the club has laboured under since its inauguration, the finances were in a healthy condition, there being a small balance in hind, and there was every prospect of a most successful season. Auckland Athletes. — The Auckland A.A. Club notified that if a championship 'cycling event was; placed on the next programme, at least three, and probably more, riders would be sent to compete at the meeting. It was also reported that Mr D. Wilson, the champion walker of Australasia, and several other prominent toe and heel exponents w ould attend and compete, on condition that the distance .of the walking event was increased to two miles. The requests were agreed to. Peogkamme.—The following programme was then drawn up for the sports gathering, to be held on Anniversary Day :—looyds Maiden, 1 mile Maiden Bicycle Race, 100yds Handicap, £-mile Bicycle Race, 150yds S#hoolboys' Race, Jmile Flat, 300yds Ladies' Bracelet, H-'mile Bicycle Race (bracelet), one mile "Flat, one mile Championship of Auckland, 2-mile Walk, 3-mile Bicycle Race.
