TnE British expedition under Major Martyn, which penetrated the Eastern Soudan from Uganda, has established a post on the Nile opposite Lado. Keports from West Africa state that heavy fighting has taken place in the Benin hinterland. The Boyal Niger Company's forces captured several towns, badly defeating the natives.
