CATTLE EPIDEMIC IN HAMILTON.

The following letter from Messrs Pond and Maclaurin to Mr Clifton, of the Agricultural Department, under date November Bth, has been handgd to us for publication. The portions of the animals analysed were taken from cattle which died mysteriously in the streets of Hamilton some time back : —" As advised, we duly received from you two bottles containing portions of the bodies of animals. One of these bottles was marked on label Thos. Hill, and contained portions of liver, intestines, kidney and lung. The other bottle was not marked, and coutained portions of stomach and contents. In accordance with your instructions, we Inve made analysis of the samples and have found arsenic (arsenious acid) iu both. In the bottle containing portions of the various organs aud marked Thos. Hill, it is present only in minute quantity, while in the stomach and contents it is present in considerable amount."
