AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL A. AND P. ASSOCIATION'S SHOW.

(BY telegraph.—press association). Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland Agricultural show opened to-day in Potter's paddock, with a tot&l of 1120 entries, including a record entry for horses of 350. The dairy cattle classes showed a marked improvement on last year, and Waikato farmers were well represented in the various classes. The judges awarded champion prizes in pedigree Ayreshires to the Avondale Asylum farm for a two-year-old bull, "The Prince," bred by Mr A. J. Wybourn. The pedigree Polled Angus class show a great improvement this year, and, as usual, Channel Island" cattle are well represented. Mr Thomas Paton, of Epsom, who showed a bullock in 1543 in a paddock behind the Government Buildings, is one of the exhibitors to-day. In draught stock, best entire three years' old, was won by General Gordon, the property of the New Zealand Land Association, Woodland Estate (Taupiri). This horse also secured the special prize. In agricultural machinery, Messrs Reid and Gray, of Dunedin, had a good nollectiou. Messrs Mason. Struthers and Co., Christchurch, chief agents for the Alpha Laval cream separators Co., had on show a complete working exhibition of cream separators, giving farmers and their wives an attractive object lesson. In the collection of vehicles, a Cape cart built to the order of a South African gentleman, was quite a novelty in New Zealand, this being the first vehicle of its kind built here. It is of a pattern in general use throughout South Africa. The MasseyHarris Company (Limited) had a very fine show of their up-to-date Canadian agricultural implements, and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have an interesting series of exhibits of Messrs W. A. Wood and Co.'s agricultural machinery. Mr Henry Overton, a well-known Canterbury sheepbreeder, exhibited some sheep, but failed to take prizes. Rain most unfortunately set in during the afternoon, but it is hoped the weather will clear up for the " People's Day " to-morrow.
