WAITETUNA.
Social and Dance.—The second social and dance, under the auspices of the Waitetuna Social Club, came off in the schoolroom, on Friday. There was not such a large muster as is usual ; this was, no doubt, owing to the unfavourable weather and dark night ; however, those who were present, seemed to enjoy themselves. The dance music was kindly supplied by Messrs Wilson and Armstrong, who gave every satisfaction, and the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr F. Moon. The usual refreshments were banded round at intervals, and were amply done justice to. Mr J. Goodwin favoured the company with two songs, both being much appreciated. Dancing commenced at 8 p.m., and was kept, up with spirit till 4 in the morning. Sale.—Mr W. J. Hunter held a very successful sale of live stock, farming implements and household effects of Mr E. B. Hill, on the farm Te Uku, and notwithstanding the very wet day, there was a very good attendance of settlers and others. Excellent prices were obtained.
Weatiieb and Roads.—The late heavy rains and succeeding showery weather have made our roads almost as bad as ever, and Mr Sutton has a difficulty in getting through to Hamilton with the mail coach. The County Council should put the worst places in repair as soon as possible.—(Own Correspondent).
