It is semi-officially affirmed here that France has evacuated Fashoda without making any demands. Paris papers hint that the Sultan will re-open the Egyptian question. France is baying 3000 horses in Hun gar j-.' Victoria, 8.C., November 2. One thousand Scottish Canadians in British Columbia have offered their services to Britain as volunteers in the event of war. Shanghai, November .'3. The British warships at Wei-hai-wei have been got ready for sea, and the British warships at Chefoo are coaling with the utmost despatch. London, November 2. The Staudard's Berlin correspendent states that France's efforts to obtain Russia's moral support over the Fashoda incident failed, and tbat owing to the task she has undertaken in the Far East Russia is not prepared to re-open the Egyptain question. November 3. The British Mediterranean fleet at Corfu has been ordered to rendezvous at Malta. The Channel fleet has arrived at Gibraltar. The Coastguard fleet at Plymouth and the Isle of Wight are mobilising. Though the impression is gaining ground that France has withdrawn from Fashoda, no intimation, formal or otherwise, has reached Lord Salis-
bury. The Parisian newspapers declare that Great Britain is needlessly huniiliatiug France. The Eight Hon. James Bryce, a member of the late Liberal Ministries, speaking at Aberdeen, said the military control of the navigable waters ofthaßahr El Ghazal and the Nile belong to Egypt.
