School Examination.—lnspector Mulgan.examined the school on Friday and Saturday last, and out of 59 presented in the various standards only four failed. CDnsidtring the tad attendance of many of the scholars during the winter, and just lately through sickness, the result is very creditable, and must be most gratifying to the head teacher (Mr Chapman) and his staff. The Weather and the Chops.—The heavy rains that we have lately experienced, and an occasional short spell without the prevalent southerly breeze, have made a great improvement in the farms about here. All the grain and potato crops are looking first-class, and the orchards look very promising, fruit of all kinds having set well. The local nooscberry growers are already preparing to pack and ship their fruit to town, and large yields are anticipated.
