MANGAPIKO.

Social and Presentation.—On the 14th inst. a very pleasant social took place iu the school-room, the main object being to say good-bye and make a presentation to Miss Westney, who is about to leave the district, in consequence of her father having sold his farm to Mr Rennie. Several songs and recitations were given and much appreciated. During an interval Mr John Gibson *aid he had been deputed to perform the pleasing duty of presenting Miss Westney with an album, as a mark of appreciation of her character and as a small recognition of her services at the harmonium for public worship ; she had also been the moving spirit in keeping the Sunday-school going. The gift he was about "to make was not a costly affair as regards pounds, shillings and pence, but he was sure that its value would not be reckoned from that standard. It was accompanied by the good wishes of the community, by whom Miss Westney will be greatly missed, as will also Mr and Mrs Westney, and they &U united in wishing that "prosperity will attend them wherever their lot may be cast. The speaker then handed the album to Miss Westney. Mr Walter Westney, in the absence of Mr Westney, senr., responded in suitable terms.—Own Correspondent).
