WHATAWHATA RACING CLUB. A heeting of the committee of the above Club was held at the Whatawhata Hotel on Saturday, there being a good attendance, Mr Higginson in the chair. The printed programme of the annual races, to be held on New Year's Day, 1899, was received from The Waikato Argus office and adopted, the secretary being directed to have it passed by the A.R.C. It was decided to have the course ploughed and worked into good order before the drv weather sets in.

A motion was brought up to the effect "That no official, directly engaged in carrying out the races, be allowed to bet on the course ;" but, as the matter had never been brought up before, it was held over for further consideration and a full meeting of the committee. It appears that a resolution of this nature has been passed by a Southern racing club, and it seems to be a step in the right direction. Some routine business was got through and the meeting terminated. There seems every probability of the forthcoming annual race meeting being fully up to its predecessors. Already a number of entries are promised for the different events, and, as the club does its best to give fair play to all, and pays its liabilities on the nail, do doubt horseowners and the public will contioue to accord it their liberal support.
