MURDEROUS ATTACK BY A FATHER.
(BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. Frederick Allkn Gkorob Cottkrbll, a retired English solicitor, residing at Mount Albert, got out of bed this morning and entered the bedroom of his daughters, Beatrice aged 16, and Florence aged 14, whom he assailed by striking them on the head with a stone hammer.
The girls are unable, through their injuries, to make a statement. It appears he bought a revolver a few days ago, but the family hid it away. He met Dr. Walker a month ago and said some people were going ro attack his hou3e and family, and he would repel them. Dr. Walker thinks he is suffering from mental delusions. Cotterell was arrested on a charge of assaulting his daughters with intent to do them grievous bodily harm.
