♦ ■ VICTOEIA A.T.C. MEETING. There whs fine weather on Saturday for this meeting, but the enjoyment of those present was marred by a 3ad and fa*al accident during the running for the Caulfield Cup. The horses were all in a bunch when passing the grandstand, when Acton, who was in the centre of the field, fell, apparently through crossing his legs. Keka, which was following, fell over him ; Musketeer, Superb and Robin Hood also came down. Several of the horses which were following jumped over the prostrate horses. Flanagan, who was riding Robin Hood, expired before reaching the casualty room. C. Foon, the rider of Reka, has a fractured ankle. A. Hearn, on Mischief, broke his collarbone, and Potvell, the rider of Actou, ia suffering from concussion of the brain. It was reported by cable yesterday that Powell had succumbed to his injuries. We are glad to report that this is not the case, his injuries are not so serious as were at first anticipated. The result of the Caulfield Cup race, which was issued from our office as an extra at 5.30 on Saturday afternoon, was :—Hymettus, 1 ; Massinissa, 2 ; The Chief, 3.
