HORSE FIEND AGAIN.
(BY TELEGRAPH—I'KIiSS ASSOCIATION). CiiKiSTCHURCH, Sunday. TnE horse fiend, who has ceased operations since January, has again started work, and during last night two valuable trotting stallions, the property of Mr J. J. Horler, were killed on his property, Upper Riccorton, about four miles from town. One, a six-year-old, by Brooklyn, was found dead in the box, with the jugular vein seveied. The other, a four-year-old by the same horse, was found dead in a paddock, wich a shot wcund in the head. An examination showed that the deed had been done with an ordinary shot gun, and a round bullet which appears to have been melted from teadead. The shot must have been fired at close quarters, for the ballet had crashed through the skull, and was cmbedded in the muscles of the neck. The horse was only 100yds from the house, but the inmates heard nothing, although neighbours say they heard a shot fired about four a.m. This makes 15 horses killed in about three years. The first one was Mr Holler's Brooklyn, the sire of the two killed last night. About nine mouths ago Mr Horler found that the horse which was stabbed last night had been poisoned in its box, but prompt measures saved its life.
