WAITETUNA.

Ball.—The complimentary or return ball to the manager and employees of the Te Akau Estate, came off in the Public Hall, Raglan, on Friday, the 7th inst. Fortunately the \veuther kept fine, although it was very threatening during the whole day. About 180 invitations were issued and well responded to, visitors from all parts of the district being present. The evening was an exceedingly sociable, pleasant and enjoyable one. The gentlemen forming the committee left nothing undone which would in any way contribute to the enjoyment of those present. The halt was beautifully and artiscally decorated for the occasion with evergreens, flowers, flags of various colours, and Chinese lanterns, and reflected the utmost credit upon the committee, by whom the decorations were carried out. The floor was voted the best that had been prepared for a dance for a long time ; Mr Fred Moon acted efficiently as M.C. Good music was supplied by Mrs Rastrick, assisted at intervals by Mrs Wallis and Miss Pursley. The supper was a recherche one, and was supplied by Mr Buchanan, of Auckland. The tables were ladened with every delicacy that one could wish for. Dancing commenced at 8,30 p.m., and was kept up until about 3.30 p.m. Some vsry becoming costumes were worn by the ladies.
