POUNDAGE FEES.
TO TIIK EDITOR. Sin,—l noticed iii your Tuesday's issue that Mr Bettley wrote, accusing me of making a false statement to the Council re the pounding of n, heifer which belonged to him. Now, Mr Editor, Mr Bettley has got away from the truth again, as lie knows right well that the beast was impounded on the Thursday after the sale and was advertised iu the Saturday's AKGOS, and it was released on that clay [Saturday), so anyone with a little sense and a small idci of addition can see that the beast was in the {round two days. If Mr Bettley wants any further information on the subject he can call at the Council Chambers and inspect my pound report for that month, and he will sec by it that I have not made any mistakes in the dates. The reporters at the last meeting evidently mistook the [sth for the Kith when my report was read by the Town Clerk. Thanking you iu anticipation.—l am, etc . Jamks Dkvitt, Poundkeepei',
